There will be a month long reading contest in February. The AR points earned by each grade will allow them to participate in the Reading Week Assembly. Individual points will be tallied and readers will be entered into drawings for activities and prizes. Get busy and earn your pies!
A book trailer contest will also be held. All book trailers will need to be turned in to the library by Monday February 25th. See the book trailer page on this website. There will be dress up days based on the theme each day during reading week. Dress code will still apply. Monday: Read It! Read my shirt day. Tuesday: Read It! Carry a poem in your pocket. If you have your poem and Mr. Adams or Mr. Mikkelsen asks you to read it, you get a treat. Wednesday: Dream It! Wear your PJ’s and dream about the great things you will do in your life. Thursday: Dream It! Dress up for your dream career. Friday: Do It! Show that you are going to do your best to make your dreams come true! Wear your Mack Lyon shirt or a shirt showing the college that you will attend. Our students went to the regional competition for Future Cities. All of our students did a wonderful job, we are so proud of them. The models and posters can be seen in the library. Team Meunxg Na won the award for Best Use of Recycled Materials. Team Matalasi Suavai took fifth place overall and received an award for Best Model. To watch the news video on the Future Cities page, click on the link on the left.

http://magma.nationalgeographic.com/ngexplorer/pathfinder/issues.html The 6th grade won the September reading contest with 78 books tested in AR. They enjoyed bags of fresh popcorn today. I think that each grade can read more than 78 books by the middle of October. Let's read Mustangs!
