In the library this week, sixth and seventh graders were hearing about Bass Reeves. I shared a few parts from the book, The Legend of Bass Reeves, by Gary Paulsen. Students often have trouble when they need to edit a computer file both at school and at home. Use tools such as Dropbox or Google Docs to work on your files anywhere you have internet access. You need an email address to use either of these great Web 2.0 products. The accounts are free; sign up now!
Students and Teachers: Remember to give credit to the creator when using pictures, charts or graphs in a presentation, paper, blog or on a website. Flickr's Creative Commons Pool is a great source for photos. For more resources, visit the Fair Use Wiki created by Joyce Valenza, a fabulous school librarian.
Lyon students are doing a great job using the library catalog to search for materials. It has been great watching everyone explore the EBSCO database and online resources as well. Mr. Leonard's students are getting ready to post book reviews to ensure that our students have a voice in what the kids in CCSD are reading.
It has been a little over a week since I arrived here at Lyon, and I feel like I am starting to settle in. Keep your eyes open for changes to this site and to the library. It's been fun remodeling and rearranging, but there is still plenty to do!
